Thoughts From a Frazzled Mind

When Shandra was young she used to go to my parent's house every day and jump on the trampoline for hours and hours.  Kalel competes on the tramp as part of his gymnastics.  These two facts have been the basis for the argument that we should get a tramp.  Shandra lives in a condo and has no where to put one, and Kalel is here most of the time while she is work, so she thinks the tramp should be at our house. Although I see the benefits I still have considerable trepidation about getting one.  Most importantly, there is quite a bit of time each day that there is no adult around or awake to take an accident victim to the hospital.  My argument withstood Shandra's for a long time. . . until the Parrishes decided to move.  They offered the tramp to Shandra who immediately jumped at the chance.  I relented, but only because there is a net around the tramp to help avoid accidents. I am finding that it is very bittersweet to arrive at the end of a semester.  This week I taught the final lecture for the fundamental students and they will take their final exam next week.  After seeing the same students day after day, sharing experiences both in class and in clinicals, and getting to know each of them personally it is hard to know that they will be moving on to bigger and better things.  I will miss them in the fundamentals class.  However, I recently found that I will get to teach them again next sememster in their pharmacology class, YEA!  And, I will get these same students in their 6th semester for their Maternal/Newborn class.  So, it isn't like I'm never going to see them again.  It is just that they were just babies in the world of nursing when they started my class 15 weeks ago, and now they have some great knowledge and skills and are ready to embark on the next challenge. Last Sunday was the Superbowl.  I'm not really sure why but for some reason I really enjoy watching the Superbowl game.  This year it was the Denver Broncos vs the Carolina Panthers.  For many years Kim and I have attended super fun SuperBowl parties with friends, but this year Kim had to work and I made plans to celebrate and enjoy the game alone.  But Kim had other plans, he decided to go into work late and watch the game with me.  It was one of the best games we have watched for a long time.  The Panthers were favored to win, but the Broncos ended up as victors.  It was fun watching the game with Kim. This week Kalel was named Athlete of the Month at the Peak!  He got to share pictures and stories of his athletic life.
