Week in Review 5-1-16

I feel like all I do is talk about how busy I am!  Hopefully when I become a seasoned veteran nursing instructor I won't have to scramble so hard every day trying to pull together all the things that I have to do to make my classes worthwhile to the students!  I feel like I am continually brushing off my friends because I am never home and when I am home I am exhausted!  My poor visiting teachers never can seem to catch up with me.  Hopefully it won't always be this hard.  But, even though it is hard, I can't believe how much I enjoy it. Monday we headed down to "the house" (Kim's term for his parents' home) to visit with the California Olsens (less Douglas).  Lori had a niece (or nephew) getting married, so the Olsen family was the recipient of a nice visit.  It was so good to see them all!  It is always a happy occasion when the California Olsens are here.  We still call them the California Olsens even though 3 of them are now living in...

Women's Conference

Image
I always look forward to going to BYU to attend Women's Conference and this year definitely did no disappoint!  Wednesday at noon Karen, Deanna, Marilyn and I headed south for this year's escapade. The new Payson temple open house corresponded with Women's Conference so we decided to start off our adventure by attending the open house. The temple is absolutely beautiful!  It is decorated with apple blossoms everywhere.  What a great way to start off Women's Conference! We were planning to spend the rest of the evening in the hot tub at the hotel, but unfortunately the hot tub was broken  Luckily for us Jalyn and her friend Martha (along with Lynne and Debbie) invited us to pajama ice cream sundae night! Martha, Lynne, and Jalyn had us rolling with laughter as they shared antics from their days in serving in the Young Women's organization.  Who would have thought that these fine women could be such pranksters! The conference speakers were al...

Woman's Conference 2014

Image
I always look forward to going to BYU Women's conference and this year was no exception.  Jalyn and Tammy stayed with me in a motel in Lehi.  Marilyn and her mother and sisters stayed in Orem, but we met up with them each day.  Cyn drove her mother down each day and joined us. We didn't do a lot of walking this year due to Jalyn's toe surgery, we enjoyed the shuttles provided for us as part of the conference to get us to and from the various venues. One of the funnest things of the conference this year was bumping into my cousins, Colleen and Teri!  We had a great time comparing notes and catching up. I didn't take many notes this year, but here are a few snippets that I enjoyed: Sheri Dew:   The Savior seldom moves mountains, but He always helps us climb them. Stephanie Nielsen:   Sharing the gospel message of hope and love is our mission and responsibility.  Social networking, blogging, is a great way to bear testimony. Ann Holden: ...

Roller Coaster Emotions

Image
I never have a been a great fan of roller coasters - I know that they can be thrilling at times, but other times the rapid, constant ups and downs tend to make me nauseous.    My life right now feels like I am stuck on a roller coaster - and my emotions can't seem decide whether they want to be up or down.   The previous post talks about the passing of my father-in-law Ross.  3 days after Ross passed away, I took my last two finals of nursing school.  Whew!  After two very long years, hundreds of hours of studying, gaining 40 pounds from stress, and shedding millions of tears of frustration, I am finally finished with nursing school!  I came out of my tests feeling like a thousand pound weight had been lifted off of my shoulders!  The relief of completing something so difficult is pretty much overwhelming!  Needless to say, I left the school feeling like I could walk on air and I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face.
