The Parrish family arrived for McKay's wedding.  It was so good to see them, they are so comfortable to be around - just like family.  We got to meet McKay's fiance, Annie.  She is a doll!  Mont, Marilyn, Maddie, and Marshall all stayed with us for the week, but their schedules were so varied that we never knew from one minute to the next who was in the house. We were able to go to the temple with Annie and Maddie to take out their endowments.  What a special memory for them both. McKay and Annie's wedding was beautiful.  They were sealed in the Brigham City temple.  Their reception was at her father's barn in Perry.  Mitch and Marshall provided entertainment by singing together.  It was awesome!  We ran into Cyn and her granddaughters at the reception and we had a great time catching up. Fun tidbit:  when McKay was about 3 years old he used to pray every night that Kim would stop saying "bad" words and drinking "ba...

Mission Accomplished

I'm done .  I have reached the end of my formal education.  What an amazing journey.  I honestly had no idea when I decided to go back to school where the journey would take me.  Who knew I would go from having a teeny inkling to become a nurse that I would far surpass that and actually obtain a Master Degree in Nursing?  Not me, that's for sure! March 2009:  Woke up one day with the knowledge that I HAD to go back to school and become a registered nurse (RN).  It didn't make sense because I had a wonderful job that I planned to retire from and I was still investing a lot of time ...

I Made A Difference

My last practical was AMAZING! I can't say a lot because of privacy, but let me just say that I had the opportunity to spend the entire day with a patient who was uncomfortable and full of anxiety about all of the changes going on - most especially the fact that he had recently been in the hospital and was now a new inpatient at the rehab facility. He was developmentally challenged and was struggling with the new environment, all of the new faces, and the fact that he didn't feel well. Throughout the day I grew to love this patient, and we were able to connect. He learned to trust me enough that he started making steps towards communication, not verbal, but definitely understandable communication - something he has not done since he became ill. It is the most amazing feeling to know that I was able to make a difference! This is the reason I want to become a nurse! I know that not every situation will turn out positive - but times like these make everything worthwhile! Th...
