Reminiscing with Great Friends

Image
This week I was fortunate to have not one - but two opportunities to get together with great friends I haven't seen for awhile. Kale, Brynanne and I met a Jeramiah's for lunch.  It never ceases to amaze me how strong my emotions are towards Kale and Brynanne.  No matter where life takes us, we will always have a strong bond which was formed in nursing school.  Kale was wounded again - another basketball injury - so he has been doing office work while he recovers.  He has also started back to school to get his BSN.  Brynanne has been able to scale her work to part-time which is nice for her to spend more time with her cute kiddos.  We laughed and visited and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch together. Later in the week Jody made dinner for Marlene and I.  It is crazy to think how much time we spent together playing volleyball over the years.  Those were really good times.  I miss the camaraderie we developed with our team as well as all of th...

So Much to Do, So Little Time

Image
I have attempted to start a blog post for quite a few days, but wonder what I will say that will have any value.  Life seems to just keep racing by with little moments of memory making treasures, but it seems that when I actually find  make time to write them down, I can't recall anything.  Yes, that does mean that I am too busy!  But I don't see any changes in my available time in the near future. I am so proud of my girls!  First Shandra branched out and started an independent business working at a great new salon where she is doing Great!  Her clientele is increasing daily. Next Tasha has just been hired as a massage therapist at an upscale spa and resort in California! I have such incredibly talented girls and couldn't be prouder of them! ***************************************************** After almost two years of working straight graveyard shifts (5:00 pm to 5:00 am) I have now switched to working days (5:00 am to 5:00 pm).  What ...

Through the Years with Good Friends

Image
Kim and I started hanging out with the Lotts and the Johnsons back when our oldest children were mere toddlers.  In fact, one year we were all pregnant at the same time!  We have had so many great times together over the years. This week we all got together for dinner at Moore's restaurant.  It is so amazing to me how much fun we have whenever we get together, even though we don't see each other very often any more, we still mesh together, laughing and sharing stories, just like we have done for almost 30 years! Needless to say we have changed a lot over the years.  Some of us have less hair on our heads, some of us now wear glasses, and some of us have added a few pounds.  Together we have worried about our children - and now grandchildren.  Together we have mourned losses of family members and learned to be caretakers of aging parents.  We have shared weddings and vacations, Superbowl parties, job losses, and house remodeling. How very gratef...

Lunch with Friends

Image
Add caption I absolutely love going to lunch with friends!  This month I had the great opportunity to go to lunch with several times.  I treasure the time with each of these great friends and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to have them in my life. Jodi, Shanne, and Ashley Brynanne and Kale Karen and Jonell Teresa and Jalyn (Just for the record - I also regularly go to lunch with Tammy as well as Shandra but for some reason I can't find any pictures of them right now) There are no words to express my gratitude for the many friends in my life (I include my sisters and daughters as friends!).  My life is so rich.  They are there to laugh with me, cry with me, they allow me to vent, they don't judge me - but love me enough to chastise me when I make foolish choices.  They support me, they cheer me up when I am feeling down and cheer me on if I do something well. Color Vibe Run

Image
OH MY GOODNESS!!! Who knew that a run could be so FUN? Saturday morning Cyn and I joined crazy girls, Heather, Jen, Jodi, and Mel in running the Color Vibe in Ogden.   Those four girls are CRAZY!  Since this was a fun run, they decided to dress up in white tutus and wear blonde wigs. Here we are, all clean and white!  The back drop of the race was beautiful with the mountains covered in the stunning colors of the autumn leaves.   We were told that white was the best color to wear to show the color.   Along the course there wear four color stations.  As we ran through the color stations, volunteers threw colored powder at us, literally covering us with color! The course took us around the campus of Weber State University.  There were no flat areas, we were either going up or down hills the entire time.  The four ballerinas took off running, of course, but Cyn and I took our time, pretty much walking most of ...

Roller Coaster Emotions

Image
I never have a been a great fan of roller coasters - I know that they can be thrilling at times, but other times the rapid, constant ups and downs tend to make me nauseous.    My life right now feels like I am stuck on a roller coaster - and my emotions can't seem decide whether they want to be up or down.   The previous post talks about the passing of my father-in-law Ross.  3 days after Ross passed away, I took my last two finals of nursing school.  Whew!  After two very long years, hundreds of hours of studying, gaining 40 pounds from stress, and shedding millions of tears of frustration, I am finally finished with nursing school!  I came out of my tests feeling like a thousand pound weight had been lifted off of my shoulders!  The relief of completing something so difficult is pretty much overwhelming!  Needless to say, I left the school feeling like I could walk on air and I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face.
