Thoughts From a Frazzled Mind

Oh, the fun, sunny days!  I just love summertime, wearing shorts and sandals, the kids loving warm weather and playing outside, darkness waiting until 9:00 to appear, perfect! Mont and Kiaya I was a work and got this picture text from Mont.  When I saw it, I was very confused.  I knew that the Parrishes were going to be in Utah/Idaho to celebrate his parents 50th anniversary, but I couldn't figure out how in the world Mont found Kiaya because Shandra was at work.  It took a long time but I finally remembered that Kiaya was at Lisa's house, her babysitter.  Lisa and her husband Brent are very good friends of the Parrishes family and when Mont stopped by to see them, I guess Kiaya ran right up to him.  He said it made him very happy! What a crazy, busy, fun, emotional week!  It seemed like I was working at warp speed trying to accomplish everything that needed to get done during the first part of the week so that I could fly to California the second part of the week.  Of course, as often happens when in a hurry EVERYTHING seems to need attention immediately which makes you feel even more behind.  Thank goodness Kim is not working this week, he is recovering from his surgery, but he feels good enough to be a terrific babysitter, chauffeur, as well as counselor for all the females in his family. Wednesday I ended up with two meetings at work, one for the Civility Committee I am on and also a faculty meeting to work on the accreditation process. Lions and tigers and bears . . oh my!  And elephants and giraffes and snakes and tortoises and pandas and hippos and the list goes on and on! We rode the bus around the zoo when we first arrived so that we could get a feel for the lay-out.  I think that it was a good idea because San Diego Zoo is HUGE!  Kalel has been studying maps in school so he and Tristan were in charge of where to go.  We saw funny seals poking their heads out of the ice  We saw some statues that were "HOT"!  We saw a rhino's lower lip act just like fingers to pick up food (it was a little creepy!)  Kalel touched a real (fake) rattlesnake  We rode a tram across the zoo (but I won't admit that I was paralyzed with fear the entire time)  We learned that Ash is master story teller.  She started a story just as the tram took off and related the story the entire ride without even catching a breath!  She said she does that to distrac...
