August 2017 - Yard Sale, Tuacahn, San Diego, and A New Baby!

This has been a very eventful and wonderful month! It started out in a perfect way, kayaking on Pine View Reservoir to watch the sunrise.  My co-worker, Amber, invited me to enjoy this experience with her.  She does it many times each summer it and I was grateful that she asked me to join her.  We met at the lake at 6:00 am, carried the kayaks down to the water and then just paddled and relaxed for about an hour.  It was INCREDIBLE!  So relaxing and so very beautiful.  I look forward to the chance to go again. Saturday was the big day of the Sale.  My sisters and Shandra were awesome workers and we ...

San Diego with Tammy

I literally called Tammy at the last minute and she was able to book the same flight so that we could vacation together.  We had an adventure in the airport while waiting for our plane - it was delayed over 5 hours!  Needless to say we were bored silly waiting, but Alaska Airlines was very kind, they gave us a food voucher ($30 a piece) as well as a credit for our next flight.  I got brave and asked the ticketing personnel if it would be possible to change our return flight since we would be missing most of our first day in San Diego.  They willingly changed it for us and PRESTO our 3 day trip turned into 7 days! Our trip was PERFECT!  We spent a lot of the time just relaxing and hanging out with Tasha and Zane.  On Saturday we went to the Koby's Swap Meet.  It was fun to see all of the things for sell there, especially the fruit that was really inexpensive.  Tammy and I bought big floppy hats to wear since we had gotten a little sunburned ...

Week in Review 5/29/16

Busy, busy week trying to get all of my work done before leaving on Thursday to go to San Diego.  I worked 12 hours a day trying to get everything done so that I would be prepared to teach the day after we returned. I did take a little bit of time to go visit - and say a final good-by - to my brother-in-law, Craig.  It was very bittersweet.  Since being put on Hospice 3 weeks ago he has been doing pretty good but Sunday and Monday he took a turn for the worse.  He stopped eating and only would take very small sips of water.  It was evident that he wouldn't be on this earth much longer.  He responded with a head nod and small audible noises but not much else.  I spent a very enjoyable evening visiting with his daughters Mickel and Kristiann and his with wife Jody while sitting next to his bed.  The family seems to be at peace with his imminent death.  They realized that he had put up a valiant fight for many years and that his body was ...
