May Memories

Image
The beginning of May also marked the beginning of a new semester.  I am teaching a new class this semester called "Capstone".  It is the last class that the students will have before graduation and it includes a 90 hour practicum that the students have to do.  I'm excited to teach this class, but there are no firm guidelines so I don't know exactly what I am doing.  I have been working with Carrie at the Murray campus who has taught this class a couple of times, thank goodness she is willing to share her ideas!. Friday May 4 I worked very late trying to get ready for school Monday.  When I finally got home Kim decided to take me out to dinner - Hooray - Date Night! We decided to try dinner at the Brigham House, a new restaurant in town. As we were entering we ran into Coach Robinette and his wife Chris.  He cautioned Kim not to order the Brigham House Burger because it was huge.  I believe it then became a challenge for Kim!  As we entered we...

Labor Day at Toad's Fun Zone

Image
My sister, Ash, has accused me of working too much.  She is right, of course.  I do work to much - it is a good thing that I like my job!  Anyway, since we don't get to spend much time together we reserved Labor Day as "Audrey and Ashley spend the day together" and even put it on the calendar - in PEN! (ok, not really because my calendar is on the computer, but we made sure that spending the day together was a priority). After going back and forth on the many choices we could do for fun, we decided to take the boys, Shandra, and Dad to Toad's for some laser tag and arcade fun.  Shandra's friend, Mel, works there so she made sure that we were equipped with pizza, drinks, and plenty of good fun.  The pizza was surprisingly good!  I would go back there just for the pizza. The Kalel and Tristan had a marvelous time going from game to game racking up piles of tickets that could be redeemed for treasures.  Kalel is a master at Skee Ball and beat all of u...

Sliding Fun

Image
Robin celebrated Corbin's birthday by renting this giant water slide.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  The kids all raced up and down millions of times.   All of the sisters gave it a go and found that we were having more fun than we had had in a very long time!  It was difficult to climb up to the top, but worth every sore muscle to shoot down the slide at exhilarating speeds! Dad even got in on the fun!  He went down several times and loved every minute of it!  I can't remember when I laughed this hard!  It was truly one of my favorite days ever!

Dad and his girls! Ashley, Robin, Julie, Roxane, Audrey My dad will turn 80 years old later this month – what a monumental feat!   It is especially amazing since he honestly planned to only live to be about forty!   I will be out of town on his actual birthday so we decided to celebrate a little early. Robin had a GREAT idea for a gift.  We designed a t-shirt that said, “I just turned 80.  If lost please contact one of my girls ” and then it had a picture of all of us, including Julie. Of course I offered to do a slide show.  Ashley did most of the labor searching the scrapbooks and scanning pictures of dad.  Then together we put together the slide show with some of dad’s favorite music.  It took a ton of time, but it was worth it. Roxane offered her home for the party.  She got him some practical gifts like a toothbrush, toothpaste, as well as socks and shirts.  We had a wonderful time!  Dad’s brother Verle an...
