Reminiscing with Great Friends

Image
This week I was fortunate to have not one - but two opportunities to get together with great friends I haven't seen for awhile. Kale, Brynanne and I met a Jeramiah's for lunch.  It never ceases to amaze me how strong my emotions are towards Kale and Brynanne.  No matter where life takes us, we will always have a strong bond which was formed in nursing school.  Kale was wounded again - another basketball injury - so he has been doing office work while he recovers.  He has also started back to school to get his BSN.  Brynanne has been able to scale her work to part-time which is nice for her to spend more time with her cute kiddos.  We laughed and visited and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch together. Later in the week Jody made dinner for Marlene and I.  It is crazy to think how much time we spent together playing volleyball over the years.  Those were really good times.  I miss the camaraderie we developed with our team as well as all of th...

One month pictures of Ish

I can't believe how much I miss my new little grandson!  Thank goodness for technology that allows Tasha to send me real-time video of the cute little guy.  I love the videos, but I have to admit, I have tried reaching into my phone to squish or kiss his soft little cheeks more than once.  I thought it was hard to have my first grandson grow - and I was with him almost every day.  Missing all of the milestone that Ish is achieving is just about killing me! Here are his latest pictures.  He is just over one month old.  Tasha wrote, " He now weights 9.5 lbs and is 22 inches long! He's starting to coo and loved sucking his thumb!, he also rolls onto his back every time we do tummy time!" The wind-blown look! One month old.

Food 4 Thought Friday

A little feast without the calories!!   Please visit  Jodi's blog!   She posts these for us.   Feel free to play along for some yummy fun! She will post a new one each Thursday night.   JOIN IN!!!   Food 4 Thought Friday ~ This week's questions: It's All Complimentary! Breakfast ~   What is a compliment you have received that you still remember? Just a few weeks ago I received a gift and a note from some of my recent students.  They all complimented me on the teaching I had done in their class, stating that they really learned from me and that they appreciated my teaching techniques.   I work very hard to teach in a way that will help the students learn and retain the information they will need to practice in the real world.  These compliments mean the world to me! Lunch ~   Do you compliment others often? Not nearly as often as I should.  Most days I am so oblivious to the world that I...

High School Class Reunion

Image
I'm not sure that I understand how time has passed so quickly!  I was just able to attend my high school class reunion.  They tell me it was a 40-year reunion, but I don't feel that it can be possible - considering that I have decided that I am only 35 years old.  Will wonders ever cease? This reunion was very low key - no formal planning or fancy activities.  We all just met at a park and brought our own picnic.  I didn't know if I would enjoy the lack of organized activities, but it turned out very nice.  It was scary at first when I didn't know if would recognize anyone and I was very glad that Tammy and Mike joined us.  It made the first initial moments much more bearable.  It was also nice to have Kim there since he knew many of the people there. Once I started warming up to the situation I found several people to talk with.  It ended up being a very nice afternoon.  It was fun to do some reminiscing and catching up with people ...

August 2017 - Yard Sale, Tuacahn, San Diego, and A New Baby!

This has been a very eventful and wonderful month! It started out in a perfect way, kayaking on Pine View Reservoir to watch the sunrise.  My co-worker, Amber, invited me to enjoy this experience with her.  She does it many times each summer it and I was grateful that she asked me to join her.  We met at the lake at 6:00 am, carried the kayaks down to the water and then just paddled and relaxed for about an hour.  It was INCREDIBLE!  So relaxing and so very beautiful.  I look forward to the chance to go again. That evening we spent getting ready for our "garage" sale.  Actually we have a huge storage unit that we want to quit using so we  decided to have a big sale to empty it out.  Some of the stuff in the shed had been stored for over 30 years!  It was a lot of hard work, but so nice to purge the things that we have no use for anymore. Saturday was the big day of the Sale.  My sisters and Shandra were awesome workers and we ...
