Thoughts From a Frazzled Mind

The beginning of May also marked the beginning of a new semester.  I am teaching a new class this semester called "Capstone".  It is the last class that the students will have before graduation and it includes a 90 hour practicum that the students have to do.  I'm excited to teach this class, but there are no firm guidelines so I don't know exactly what I am doing.  I have been working with Carrie at the Murray campus who has taught this class a couple of times, thank goodness she is willing to share her ideas!. Friday May 4 I worked very late trying to get ready for school Monday.  When I finally got home Kim decided to take me out to dinner - Hooray - Date Night! We decided to try dinner at the Brigham House, a new restaurant in town. The first part of the month of April was spent with many visits with dad at the memory care unit to hopefully help him to adjust to his new home.  It was very hard, especially when he would tell us that he needed to get out of there.  However the staff continually reassured us that he really was adjusting well. By the second week in April we all had to agree that dad was doing phenomenally well.  He no longer asked to leave and he seemed content.  We were told that he had taken on the role of "helper" to the ladies in the facility with him.  He helped them with their walkers and he helped them by pushing them in their wheelchairs - even if they didn't want him to. 😊 His hair and beard were getting a little scraggly so we made him an appointment for a trim.  He has had his beard since mom died, so we didn't even consider cutting it off.  It is difficult to shave him, so we planned on keeping the beard forever (besides I like it!).  However t...

Kim, Kalel and I were invited to Shandra's big ultrasound.  It was SO fun to see that cute little critter wriggling around!  We were all extremely happy to hear that all is well with the baby, except Kalel - he kept asking over and over and over "Is it a girl? Am I going to have a sister?" When the ultrasound tech final told us all that it was a girl Kalel literally jumped up, pumped his fist, and cried, "YES!"  I'm thinking that he is just a little excited about having a sister.  I have to agree since we now have two grandsons a little girl would be fun. This winter has been wonderful as far as I am concerned - very little snow, very mild temperatures - but I fear that it will negatively impact our water this summer, so I'm trying to hope for some snow.  However, I going to enjoy the weather while it lasts. Tasha made this picture for Valentine's Day.   Kim and I celebrated our 36th anniversary by visiting Tasha, Zane and Ish in San Diego.  It was a marvelous trip, especially since we got to play with baby Ish!  He is growing so fast!  He is just as cute as could be, with fat little thighs, gorgeous blue eyes,  and giggles that make you get all giddy and start laughing with him.
