Lunch ~ What happened this week that was unexpected? Austin Taylor was killed when his car hit ice and he collided with a semi.  I know Austin’s family very well and this news was devastating.  My heart hurts so much for his cute wife, Marissa, and their 2 ½ little girls. Dinner ~  What is your go to meal when company is over or when you have to take a meal to someone? Since I rarely cook, this is a hard question.  When company comes we often order pizza, or if ...

I haven't had the opportunity to hang out with Kale and Brynnane forever!  We were finally able to co-ordinate our schedules to meet for a great lunch at  Scrud's Gourmet Grub on Ogden's 25th Street.  The burgers were great, although a little expensive.  It was so great to catch up with two of my favorite people.  I never would have made it through nursing school without their help.  I really miss spending time with them, although I don't think I want to study so much again.  They are both very successful nurses, both in home health interestingly enough.  Brynanne has cut her hair very short and looks absolutely gorgeous!  Kale is as crazy as always.  He was sporting a nasty finger injury that requires him to bend his finger hourly with resistance from pins and bands. Of course, a visit with the gang requires ice cream - luckily there was a Cold Stone right down the block so we could continue our traditions.  I love Kale and Bryn...

I end up carrying them around for ages and forget to use them. Lunch ~ What is something you learned this week? As a teacher I find that I am always learning something – usually it is due to a question that a student asks that I can’t answer!  I can’t think of anything specific that I learned this week. Dinner ~  What is something most people know you hate? Driving in the snow and bad weather...

Week in Review 2/12/17 - 35th Anniversary

My first thought is to start this post with the words to a song by the incredibly talented duo of Simon and Garfunkel. However as I was researching the lyrics I realized that I had messed up the words in my head and it really wasn't what I wanted to say. In my version the lyrics are: Hello darkness , my old friend I've come to visit  you again. Yes, it is here again, the dreaded winter depression and anxiety, and it is really bad this year.  I just want to climb into a hole and not come out until I feel normal again.  I feel like every year I struggle with this and always complain, and I don't want to sound whiny, but it is very real, and it is hard.  Today Nancy Moyle gave a fabulous talk of ways she is dealing with depression and anxiety that she suffers with each winter.  It was so good, and she is doing well with it.  It is funny, I have no problem understanding things that can make it better, she had some great suggestions, but they just don...

Week in Review 1/1/17 Happy New Year!

The Week after Christmas Monday - Kim and I helped Marilyn clean their new house in Mantua.  They will be renting it for the next few months.  Mont is leaving soon to head to Dallas, but Marilyn and Marshall will be here until July when she finishes her internship.  Their "new" house is 100 years old and has some great character, but it needed some serious cleaning.  Unfortunately Mont was really sick and couldn't join us.  We took a break for lunch and had burgers at the new Mantua store which is only four houses away from their house.  The burgers were GREAT!  We will definitely eat there again!. Tuesday - Shandra and Jason rode with us and Tasha and Zane met us in Salt Lake for dinner at Applebees before we headed to the Desert Start to watch "Nutcraker, Men in Tights".  I was hoping the the guys would enjoy the play, and they did!  It was really funny and everyone absolutely loved it!  I'm so glad.  The grandkids were at the...

I started the week off by working at the Murray campus planning labs for the upcoming semester.  Not only I am going to be teaching a new class (Maternal/Newborn/Pediatrics), I will be teaching the accompanying lab as well as the fundamental labs.  Teaching labs is more difficult for me than classroom lectures so I spent the morning getting help and advice from Carrie and Tanjia who have taught the labs in the past.  Tanjia was kind enough to build awesome posters for the Maternal/Newborn lab that will be really helpful. That afternoon the faculty met at Mimi's Cafe for our Christmas lunch and gift exchange.  Sally joined us.  The food was fantastic and the company was wonderful.  The gifts were simple but heartfelt and personal.  I'm so fortunate to work with this great group! Audrey, Sally, Sue, Carrie, Dennis, Lisa, Tanjia, Dustin While I was at lunch Tasha called and asked if I could stop by Hunzeker's house and pick her and Zane up to stay...
