Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!
Girls Camp: Spending 3 ½ days with 24 young women and 12 great “mature?” women, dirt, campfires, no sleep, tons of food, laughter, singing, improving old friendships, making new friends, a cross-dressing husband, secret sisters, strengthening testimonies, building great memories. This year our ward went to Camp Shawnee up in Liberty. This was our 3rd year in a row to have the opportunity to stay in cabins ! Whew Hoo! No tents for us! Shawnee had a lodge for all of our meetings and meals. We almost had all of the comforts of home – less warm water in the showers. Jenny Hepworth told us that we used the “Hokey Pokey” method of showering, “you put your right foot in, you put your right foot out, then you shake it all about” all the while trying to breathe and squealing “ooooo, oooo, oooo!” We had a cute mascot, Hercomer, a giant spider who would appear labeled with the names of two girls. When those two girls found where Hercomer was hiding, they would take him to Jodi or Heidi who wo...
Last night I was the end of an experience that until recently I never thought that I would have - let alone willingly! Quite a while ago I decided that it would be fun to get my CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) certificate. I knew that as part of the course I would need to do several hours doing "clinicals". Since I work in a doctor's office, I erroneously assumed that I would be able to complete the clinicals in my office. No, I discovered, the clinicals needed to be completed at a long-term care facility, aka "nursing home". OH NO! I have never felt comfortable in nursing homes! And I certainly didn't want to work three, long, 8-hour shifts in one! Of course, in order to complete the course I had to comply. Since my mom spent most of the summer in a local rehab facility that seemed very nice, I decided to endure my time at that same facility. I dreaded the experience for months!!!! Not only did I have to sacrifice my happiness to fulfill the requirements of...
