Food 4 Thought Friday

Image
Feel free to play along for some yummy fun! Food 4 Thought Friday ~ (questions compliments of Jodi please check out her site!) This week's questions Breakfast: How do you usually spend Thanksgiving? Because my parents have been so sick for the past several years we have joined Kim's family in the celebrations. His family is so large that we hold our dinner in a church. They are so gracious and kind that they have invited my whole extended family to join with them. Thus, we have been able to feast with both families at the same time! This year, however, my parents are doing well and my sister has invited us to celebrate at her house. We plan to pig out and then hang out and play games all day - of course Robin and I will sneak off for a couple of hours to plan our shopping strategies. Lunch: What is the one thing you are most grateful for this year? Although my heart is overflowing with gratitude for many things, I think that I have to say the thing I am most grateful for rig...

Surprise Makeover

Image
One of the very best things about having a daughter who is a hairstylist is that I never have to make the decision if I am ready for a new "do " nor do I have to decide which new "do " that I want. She stays right on top of the current looks and lets me know when I am ready and what will look good. Yesterday she informed me that she has been spending a lot of time thinking about my hair, and she was ready to give me a makeover . So, I showed up at her house looking like this: She put a movie on for me and told me to relax . The next thing I know, I am looking like this: Before long she unveiled the new me . It is always a surprise because I never know exactly what color or cut she has chosen for me (of course, she knows that I love surprises , and that I enjoy her making those choices for me). I love the rich color that she chose, and the cut seems fun and easy to do , a real plus in my book! It is fun to be able to have drastic changes once in a while, don't...

Raking Leaves

Image
It is a sure sign of AUTUMN when the trees start looking like this . . . . And all of the yards start looking like this . . . . And it takes lots of hard work to get piles of leaves like this . . . . But it is amazing that when you have a few strong guys like this . . . And hard workers like these . . . How much you can get done in just a short time! Our ward is absolutely amazing! Recently our bishopric has asked the members if they would join with them in becoming like the people of old who joined together to have barn raising's . So, we have had several service projects over the last few months - some very small and some large. Unfortunately I have not been able to attend many in the past due to scheduling conflicts, but I got to help this morning. This morning, in under two hours , we raked the leaves of every house in our ward boundaries ! It is such a wonder what can be accomplished when a group of people join together to get something done. We piled big piles o...

Great Saturday

I had a GREAT Saturday. First of all it was November 1st - and it was perfect weather! Jody was such a sport that she put up with my whining and only made me run 2.5 miles. Our ward had the opportunity to play volleyball in a region tournament, which is fun, but the best part was that two of the teams in our pool play had to forfiet, so the only team we got to play was the 17th ward - a team we have played many times since they are in our stake, and we know and love all of the players! It was such a fun, fun game! (A fact that was made only slightly better since we WON!) In the afternoon I got a well deserved nap with my adorable Kalel, and when we woke up we got to play. Kalel decided he wanted to be a cowboy with his Grandpa "Bob". The very BEST part of the day - two wonderful friends brought me treats! First Heidi made me this delicious chocolate cake and pumpkin bars (notice two of the pieces are already missing). and Jen and Janzen brought over this bottle of appl...

FOOD 4 THOUGHT FRIDAY

Food 4 Thought Friday Thanks to Jodi. I am at work, so I don't have any pictures - sorry! Breakfast What was your favorite costume you ever wore for Halloween? Add photos if you want! One year my sister in law helped me make the greatest spider costume that has eight long arms that are attached so that they move! When I wear it no one knows who I am! Kim and I once went as rodeo clowns – we looked pretty great if I do say so! Also we went as half man/half woman once. Kim even shaved half of his moustache and beard for that one! It is the only time I have ever seen him without a moustache! He started growing it back the next day!!!!! Lunch What are your Halloween traditions? Are you going trick-or-treating or staying home and passing out candy? How much do you get in the Halloween spirit? (three course lunch today!) We ALWAYS have a pumpkin carving night were we carve elaborate pumpkins. Of course, Kim’s is always the best, and he takes the shortest time to carve it. Since B...
