Celebrating BJ's Birthday

This year BJ's birthday celebration started with balloons. We took five balloons (I thought 5 for each one of us, Tasha and Shandra thought 5 for five years) up to the Mantua Cemetery. Imagine our surprise when we found that there was so much snow piled up that we couldn't get to his headstone without totally soaking ourselves, so we settled for stoping at the gate. We then all yelled, "Happy Birthday, BJ!" and let the balloons sail off towards heaven. Needless to say, Kalel loved it! There is just something amazing about watching balloons go higher and higher, soaring and seeming to dance as they rise.


We then headed to Chilli's for a fun dinner.



After stuffing ourselves silly, we got down to the serious business of playing games!


Several years ago we decided that we would always celebrate BJ's birthday by doing the things that we know he loved - and his very favorite was playing games. One of the favorite games of the entire family is "BLURT". In this game a discription of a simple everyday item is read by one player and every other player shouts out the answer as quickly as they can. Quite often the mouth starts shouting before the brain is fully engaged, and the answers are hilarious! For example:
The clue: A body of land surrounded by water.
My answer: Pencil!

Obviously we spend a good share of the game laughing so hard that we have to stop to wipe away the tears from our eyes!
We had such a fun night that it was hard to see it end. Happy Birthday, BJ.

Sure thing! Just have an ambulance at the bottom of the hill to pick up the broken pieces and cart them off.

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Our 3 Minutes of Fame

Whew Whoo! "Diana Ross" and we "Supremes" performed brilliantly at our recent Stake Lip Sync. Okay, maybe we weren't quite brilliant - but at least we did it! We had anticipated a little more time to prepare and since several of the acts scheduled to perform before us neglected to show up, we were not exactly warmed up, stretched, and in sync as we would have liked to be. I have had several constructive criticisms requesting that I never dye my hair black. Karen and Janet were terrifically fun to do this with!
