Chapters

I am an avid reader. I devour books, especially LDS novels that have good messages intertwined with the story line. As I read, I usually allow myself enough time to read one or two chapters, and I make a promise to myself that I will stop at the end of a chapter. However, most of the time I find it very difficult to stop at the end of the chapter. Granted, chapter’s end usually is a natural spot to take a break in the story, but most times there is just enough of a cliffhanger or a tease to tempt you to start into the next chapter. That is how I feel about my life right now. One year ago I started attending USU Brigham Campus. I had no idea at the time how the campus would take over my life during the next 12 months. I went from barely knowing the campus existed to having an intimate acquaintance with the lobby, the bookstore, the computer and science labs not to mention the classrooms. I have become friends with the counselors, the facilitators, the bookstore clerks, and the other stu...

Mother's Day Dinner

Image
We have started a grand tradition in my family. Instead of stressing to find just the right gift for our mothers, we have started just going to dinner together to celebrate Mother's Day. When I called my mom to see if she was okay with dinner instead of gifts again this year, she replied, "Oh Yes! I was so hoping that we would!" It is such a fun evening. Only moms are invited - so our group included mom, my 3 sisters, Roxane, Robin, and Ashley, as well as Shandra and my niece, MicKenzie. Robin did surprise mom with a special gift, however. Many years ago mom wrote and illustrated a children's book called, "Marblehead". It was never published, she just kept the pages in sheet protectors in a binder. Robin stole the book, scanned the pages, and sent to Blurb for publishing. It was terrific! Ashley read it to all of us there. It was a perfect gift. We had so much fun, eating, laughing, and sharing old stories! This will be a tradition I will look forward to ev...

Graduation

Image
It just so happened that Tasha's graduation and my commencement ceremony were on the same night. We were both getting our Associate of Science Degrees. Since we obviously couldn't attend both ceremonies, I decided that I would forgo mine and attend hers. The decision wasn't very difficut for several reasons. First of all, Tasha has completed what she set out to do, to complete her Associate's and begin her practice as a massage therapist. In addition, my commencement was actually scheduled three weeks prior to completely the semester, so I wasn't sure that I would even earn my degree! Also, I have not completed my program yet, an Associate's is just a stepping stone. Besides that, I am so very proud of her, how could I miss this special occasion to celebrate with her. It was such as great ceremony! As the graduates walked in they were accompanied by bagpipes! The speakers were all very good, and they kept their remarks brief. Kalel loved all of the clapping, he ...

Food 4 Thought Friday

Image
Breakfast What is something hanging over your head this week? Getting my final paperwork ready and taking the TEAS test. Lunch Name at least five things you do that you are proud "well-pleased" of. (In no particular order) I HAVE MY ASSOCIATES DEGREE! I have a family who enjoys spending time together. I read my scriptures every morning and try to live my life accordingly. I am someone who has many friends. Ummm, I’m sure that there is something else, but I can’t think of anything right now! Dinner What is something you are always wanting to do, but never seem to be able to. Right now I am thinking that clean the house is a good answer! Midnight Snack What is your best way to cope with stress. My best way to cope with stress is to dive into anything chocolate with a Dr. Pepper in one hand and a “Cinderella” book in the other. Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) Looking forward to some catch-up time, hopefully getting my h...

Food 4 Thought Friday

Breakfast What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Oatmeal with flax seed. I eat it almost every day. Lunch What is something that you are disappointed about right now. I'm very dissappointed that I was not able to attend Women's Conference this year. I miss the spiritual feast that seems to sustain me throughout the rest of the year. Dinner What is in your fridge right now? That is a very good question - since my DH takes care of that! Midnight Snack What are you really anticipating right now? I am so anticipating this summer's break from school! I love school, but it will be great to have a break. Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) Finals start this week, so I'm just going to try to survive without freaking out!

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

Image
Friday evening Kim came into the house and said, "let's go fly kites!" I had been diligently studying for hours so I decided that a kite-flying break was just what I needed! We grabbed our jackets and kites and headed for the park. The wind was just perfect for Bubba-type flying (i.e. flying low)! All we had to do was throw into the air, and it would take off. A great time was had by all! Bubba had a terrific time! He especially liked to jump up and try to catch the kite-tails as they flitted just out of his reach.

Food 4 Thought Friday ~ This week's questions: Breakfast What is the last book you read? "A Heart Has It's Reasons" by Kerry Blair. I love readying LDS novels and devour about one per week, no matter how busy I am! Lunch What countries have you been to? In High School I traveled all around Mexico twice with school groups. In college I spent a summer abroad studying in Spain. While I was there I toured France and England. Recently I was able to visit Belize and the Cayman Islands. Dinner When do you feel best? In the morning, afternoon, or evening? It just depends on what is going on. I can feel good (or) bad any time of the day! Midnight Snack If you could live anywhere in the world for a year, where would it be? I definitely would choose somewhere tropical! Preferably in the Caribbean. I would love to go back to the Cayman Islands, I could easily live there! Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) I'm starting the...
