Week in Review 12/25/2016 Christmas

I started the week off by working at the Murray campus planning labs for the upcoming semester.  Not only I am going to be teaching a new class (Maternal/Newborn/Pediatrics), I will be teaching the accompanying lab as well as the fundamental labs.  Teaching labs is more difficult for me than classroom lectures so I spent the morning getting help and advice from Carrie and Tanjia who have taught the labs in the past.  Tanjia was kind enough to build awesome posters for the Maternal/Newborn lab that will be really helpful. That afternoon the faculty met at Mimi's Cafe for our Christmas lunch and gift exchange.  Sally joined us.  The food was fantastic and the company was wonderful.  The gifts were simple but heartfelt and personal.  I'm so fortunate to work with this great group! Audrey, Sally, Sue, Carrie, Dennis, Lisa, Tanjia, Dustin While I was at lunch Tasha called and asked if I could stop by Hunzeker's house and pick her and Zane up to stay...

Monday morning I headed to work full of trepidation, still in shock to think that Sally would no longer be our leader.  Sue and I talked for a long time about the ramifications, but of course since we didn't have any information all we could do was speculate.  Finally we got a message that we were to go to the Salt Lake Campus for a meeting with the CEO of the company.  Finally we would get some answers.  Since the meeting was scheduled for afternoon, we called Sally and asked her if she would like to meet Sue and I for lunch before the meeting. It was great to talk to her.  She truly is a good friend.  She let us know how much she enjoyed working with us and let us know that she expected to be included in many lunches in the future.  I just love that lady. After lunch we headed to the meeting, which was actually very good.  The CEO told us that he wanted to know what our questions and concerns were and just opened up the floor.  ...

When we were at our Sister's Retreat we made crafts using Roxane's Cricut paper cutter.  She mentioned to me that if she ever upgraded that she would give me her old one.  I didn't really even think about it until she texted me this week and told me that I could pick up her Cricut as soon as I wanted because she got a new one.  How fun for me!  I immediately went online and ordered some vinyl because I wanted to decorate a few things. The story gets even better!  My co-worker, Sue, has a plethora of cartridges for the Cricut that she isn't using any more and "gave" them to me to "store" for her until she needs them again.  Whoo Hoo!  Early Christmas for me!  As soon as I got my vinyl I started creating.  Kim had saved some cabinet doors when we remodeled our basement and I made some cute signs.  Here are a few of my creations.  It is a lot of fun, but honestly I'm not sure how much I will use it because I haven't been doing much c...

My least favorite  is actually putting up the decorations.  I LOVE having them up, but actually decorating drives me crazy.  And I don’t like trying to figure out where to put the stuff I take down to put up Christmas. Serious lack of photos this week!  I'm really slacking! It is December!  Wow!  That came fast!  Christmas will be here before we know it.  Tasha and Zane will be here, I can't wait to see them, it has been too long. This week was pretty uneventful.  Work was good - my boss, Sally asked me if I would teach the Maternal/Newborn/Pediatric class in Murray next semester.  Of course I jumped at the chance.  Maternal/Newborn is my passion and I can't wait to teach it!  Of course I am not thrilled to have to drive to Murray each Monday, but Sally offered to let me stay at her house each Sunday evening (which is only minutes away from the campus) so that I won't have to get up early and fight the traffic.  I think that I may just take her up on that!  Now to start working on lesson plans! Friday night was the anniversary of Tyson Wilding's passing therefore it was "Chocolate Dessert Day".  I made the dessert and Kim and I took it ...
