Week In Review

Image
Jami I was very worried about what things to work on in my Family History class this week, but I guess I shouldn't have worried so much, because I got called into work at the hospital and didn't end up teaching.  This was one of those days when I love being a nurse.  A calm day - something that is quite rare - and a day where I could just focus on the needs of my patients and share the joy of having a new baby with them.  I also enjoyed working with Jami who also has another job as a nursing instructor.  It was fun and also extremely beneficial to compare notes and teaching techniques.  I feel like I am still so new at teaching that I can use all of the help I can get. It was a good working day, but I do miss church.  I miss the association with all my friends in the ward, I miss taking the Sacrament, and I miss being spiritually fed.  It seems that if I don't get that once a week I miss it, and my week feels a little "off". Through the Years with Good Friends

Image
Kim and I started hanging out with the Lotts and the Johnsons back when our oldest children were mere toddlers.  In fact, one year we were all pregnant at the same time!  We have had so many great times together over the years. This week we all got together for dinner at Moore's restaurant.  It is so amazing to me how much fun we have whenever we get together, even though we don't see each other very often any more, we still mesh together, laughing and sharing stories, just like we have done for almost 30 years! Needless to say we have changed a lot over the years.  Some of us have less hair on our heads, some of us now wear glasses, and some of us have added a few pounds.  Together we have worried about our children - and now grandchildren.  Together we have mourned losses of family members and learned to be caretakers of aging parents.  We have shared weddings and vacations, Superbowl parties, job losses, and house remodeling. How very gratef...

Bear Lake 2012

Image
For many years when our kids were young, Kim & I had the wonderful opportunity to take  mini vacations each spring and summer courtesy of our friends, Harper and Janis.  In the spring we would  travel  south to St. George and stay at Harper's parent's house.  In the late summer we would  head up to Bear Lake and stay in Janis' parent's cabin.  We looked forward to these trips, and scheduled the rest of our lives around them.  Mike and Tammy joined us for each trip.  Sometimes other couples would join us, but the "core" group was the six of us.  We often remarked that we looked forward to the time when our children were older and we wouldn't need to find sitters.  We talked about how much more settled we will be at that time and that we would have loads more time to vacation together. HaHaHa!  The joke was on us!  As our children grew, our free time seemed to shrink proportionately, and we never could seem to fit...

Fun Friends and Good Times

Image
Last Thursday was my sister, Roxane's birthday, and since she is the world's greatest scrapper , she invited me and several other friends to help her celebrate! First Marilyn and I joined Rox and her friend Anna at Utah Noodle for lunch. Then, since it was Thursday, we headed down for some great deals at Real Deal . These ladies are all fabulous decorators, so I just tagged along hoping that I some of their talent for making their homes so beautiful would rub off on me - no such luck! But I had fun watching them, seeing their creative minds churning, as they grabbed one trinket after another. After shopping, we went back to Rox's house to get down to some serious scrappin '. After a short while, Jody joined us for the fun - and even learned a thing or too about scrappin '. We ate way too much, stayed up much too late, and created some great memory pages. I LOVE scrappin ' with Rox . She is the best at putting together beautiful pages. Marilyn is good too, ...
