Raking Leaves

It is a sure sign of AUTUMN when the trees start looking like this . . . . And all of the yards start looking like this . . . .
And it takes lots of hard work to get piles of leaves like this . . . .But it is amazing that when you have a few strong guys like this . . .

And hard workers like these . . .

How much you can get done in just a short time!
Our ward is absolutely amazing! Recently our bishopric has asked the members if they would join with them in becoming like the people of old who joined together to have barn raising's. So, we have had several service projects over the last few months - some very small and some large. Unfortunately I have not been able to attend many in the past due to scheduling conflicts, but I got to help this morning.
This morning, in under two hours, we raked the leaves of every house in our ward boundaries! It is such a wonder what can be accomplished when a group of people join together to get something done. We piled big piles of leaves all along the edge of the curb, and will have the city come and vacuum them up next week. Every house around looks so good! (Now we just have to hope that the city cleans up the leaves before we get a wind storm.) What a great feeling it is to be of service to others!

I feel bad I had to miss out on that great day of service. McKay was sick. But the rest of the fam had some fun!

I think the photographer worked the hardest, pat yourself on the back for hustling all over the yard and catching them in the act of working, I know that had to be difficult, especially since some of those working were guys :)
