Christmas 2013

Our annual Christmas Eve party was held at Robin and Cory's new house this year.  We missed Roxane's family, but everyone else was there.  Cory cooked the turkey perfectly.

Shanne loaned us her photo board so we had a fun time taking pictures!

We played a couple of games, the kids sang, "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", and then we played boomwhackers.  We then followed tradition and read the Christmas Story from mom's old bible while the children held up puppets.

Finally gifts were exchanged.  We gave Robin a set of towels that we had folded into animals.  It was great!

Our Christmas Jammies were a big hit.  Each of us had a character from Charlie Brown's Peanuts gang.  Tasha was Sally, Zane was Linus, Shandra was Lucy, (Jay didn't get his until the next day, but he was Schrooder), Kalel was Snoopy, Kim was Charlie Brown, and I was Marcie.  I had a lot of fun making the shirts.

Our remodeling isn't finished, but we were able to use the new family room and it was beyond wonderful!  There was so much room, and it was great having the kitchen right off the family room.  I think it made us feel a lot more connected.

Christmas morning was the wonderful madhouse that always accompanies Christmas.  Tasha and Zane slept in the spare room, Shandra and Kalel slept in our bed downstairs, and Kim and I slept on a mattress in the living room.  I think that everyone received above and beyond their desires,  it was a good Christmas for all!

Of course, we had to make our annual trip to the Parrishes to see if Santa found their house!
And then down to spend most of the rest of the day with the Olsens.  Kim's mom hasn't been doing very well so we were glad to get some pictures with her.
I ended up working from 11:00 pm until 5 the next morning, so I took a very long and much needed nap on Christmas.
We spent the next day getting the house all cleaned (Cheers to all of the elves who helped) and then the rest of the holiday vacation was spent in serious game mode.  We played every single day.  We had a big party the day Cyn came up and invited the Hunzekers to join us.
We celebrated New Year's Eve at Shandra's house by playing even more games!

One afternoon we went bowling - it was great fun!  Especially when we all decided to granny bowl and Zane split his pants open!  He was such a good sport, laughing at himself and saying how glad he was that he had showered and put on clean underwear before going!  Needless to say, right after we finished bowling he and Tasha went shopping for new pants!
We finally got a "Grinch" picture, with all of wearing Grinch shirts!  What a crazy, yet absolutely wonderful family!
This Christmas holiday has been absolutely wonderful!  I hated to see it come to an end.  Jay took Dalton back to his mother's and then he drove back to Colorado/Wyoming for work.  Tasha and Zane left to go back to San Diego.  Shandra and Kalel went back home, Kim went back to work and here I am in a very quiet house.  I miss them.
