Bubba's Birthday

Two years ago our little Bubba made a surprise enterance into this world five weeks before we were expecting him.

He was so teeny! Only 4 lbs 4 oz.


It was amazing to me that something so small could be so perfect.


What a difference two years makes! He still is perfect (to grandma and grandpa at least) but he sure isn't teeny any more!

Bubba is now an official 2 year old! Complete with adorable personality, multiple talents, and his very own attitude!


Of course he is the smartest kid ever! (Grandma's bragging rights) He knows all of the basic colors, he knows all of the animals and sounds, and he sings about 15 songs.


It is amazing the difference in his attitude on presents between Christmas and now. At Christmas, he would slowly tear off one little, tiny piece of wrapping paper and then walk it over to the garbage. He seemed to care more about the paper than the gifts. Somehow during the last few months he learned that presents are FUN! And he became really excited to open them.
This picture is of Bubba waiting impatiently for his presents. We told him that if he would sit on the couch we would bring him a present.

He grabbed the first gift, ripped off the paper, handed the gift to him mother and immediatedly said, "more present!"
He repeated the proceedure after each gift!
His mamma gave him a big birthday party with all of his cousins and friends. Of course he got spoiled rotten by all of the great gifts!

You can just see the personality in his cute little face! It's fun when they catch on to the whole present concept! Happy Birthday, Bubba!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
