Les Miserables in Cedar City

Last Thursday Shandra and I rushed to airport as soon as I got off work for a fun (and much too short) trip to Cedar City.  The flight fare was unbelievably inexpensive (only $56 each way and with gas as expensive as it is right now, it was almost cheaper to fly than to drive!)  We were surprised to find a huge crowd in line waiting to get through security at the airport - needless to say it made us just a tad-bit nervous about missing our flight!

Luckily for us, just as we got in line, an employee announced that they had just opened a line in the next terminal.  It was a bit of a walk, but there was no waiting and we breezed right through!  Whew!
It was just a short 30-40 minute flight - much better than a four hour drive!

The Cedar City airport is just a tiny place - but it almost looks like a 5-star hotel!  We were very impressed!

Tasha picked us up at the airport and took us to her cute little apartment.  It is in downtown Cedar, literally walking distance to the college campus, several restaurants, and our hotel.

Tasha all excited to show us the door of her apartment!
Once we said our hellos - we took a nap (ok, I took a nap since I had been up all night working, I think the girls just laid around and visited.)
After a very refreshing nap, we got all beautiful and went to a cute little restaurant called "The Coop" for a yummy lunch, and then on to the reason for the trip.
The Utah Shakespearean Festival's production of Les Miserables.

OH MY GOODNESS!   This production was absolutely FABULOUS!  I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it was!  I truly believe that this production was better than the one I saw on Broadway!  All three of us literally had tears in our eyes by the end of the show.  If every production at the Shakespearean Festival is as good as this one, I will become a true convert!  I seriously think that I will make an extended trip there next year to see several shows.

After the show we were just walking around outside the theater and happened upon two of the main characters of the show.  It was wonderful to talk with Joey and Micheal about the show and their performances.  The talent of these men is staggering.

After the show we checked into the hotel and began a long, incredibly fun night of games.  The girls kept saying how excited they were to play games with me because they knew that with only two hours of sleep I was bound to be pretty wild and crazy - and of course they were right!  We laughed and laughed and laughed!  It felt sooo good to release the endorphins of deep belly laughs!

We had such a fabulous time, it was very hard to pack up the next morning and return back home to the real world of work and responsibilities - but we were fueled with the memory of an absolutely fabulous trip.
