August Summary

August flew by!  I can't believe how fast the summer is racing by!  Pretty soon it will be fall and then winter - YUCK!

Bubba went to the dentist and had 8 cavities!  In order to fill them all the dentist decided to put him under anesthesia so that it wouldn't be so traumatic.  He did a GREAT job and didn't even cry when they gave him his injection.

They first gave him a shot that made him really tired and loopy.
Then he fell asleep - but his eyes were wide open!

 After the procedure he was a little slow to recover from the effects of the anesthesia.  He talked like he was drunk and his vision was blurry.  He kept telling us that he needed to get glasses!
He was very brave, and I'm quite proud of him!

 Both Bubba and Shandra had a FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL.  Bubba is in a combined first and second grade class and Shandra is starting college.

I am extremely proud of both of them!

I allowed myself to be lured into the world of YARD SALES.  It was quite an adventure.
 Especially since I found the one thing that I was looking for - and at a FABULOUS price!  I'm hoping to turn it into an island in my kitchen.
 Shandra, Bubba, Jay, his son, along with Robin and her family joined us for a night of entertainment at Heritage Theater.
We saw a wonderful production of
 

 
 It was SO fun!  The boys were totally mesmerized by the entire production!

We had a reunion for our nursing school.  Unfortunately it wasn't well attended, but I had a great time visiting with Kale, Rondi, and Sally.  


 I really miss seeing these guys on a daily basis!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
