September Challenge Day #22— Record something that happened in the last week.
Last week Kim and I took a trip to San Diego to visit our long, lost daughter and son-in-law (okay, they really aren't long lost - it just feels like they are because we don't get to see them as often as we would like!)
Our trip was much too short, but good nonetheless. We decided to rent a car and I went online I booked an inexpensive, economy car (plug for Hotwire.com). I felt we got a decent price and knew that we didn't need anything fancy for our short trip. We were very pleasantly surprise to when we were told that the rental agency did not have any cars left in the economy price range, so they upgraded us to a sweet 2014 Camry. It had all of the bells and whistles including an on-board GPS system that was extremely nice getting us around the city.
We celebrated our arrival by ordering pizza and relaxing in the hot tub. Spending time in the pool and hot tub is one of my favorite activities when visiting the kids.
The next day we got to have a tour of Tasha's work before we headed to the San Diego temple.
I love this temple and had been anxiously awaiting an opportunity to go back and take Kim with me.
Unfortunately I had misread the dates and when we arrived we found that the temple was closed for maintenance. Darn! I was pretty disappointed.
Since we were out and about we decided to head down to Old Town and walk around for a bit. It was fun to just do some sight-seeing with my favorite date!
And then we walked along the boardwalk and watched the seals as the tide came in. It was so interesting to watch - even more so as Kim provided "commentary" by the seals. He was in rare form and we were laughing hysterically as he provided voices to all each of the seals. I think we stayed there for almost two hours!

Tasha at work! |

After the kids got off work we hopped on the Trolley.
We got off at the Gas Lamp Quarter.
Tasha found LambChop! A childhood favorite!
And Kim found his new buddy, the Tool Man.
And we had some YUMMY food at Pizza on the 5th.
The next day we enjoyed a visit to the Birch Aquarium
We saw lots of interesting fish
And a huge assortment of seahorses
And even a leafy sea dragon!
The guys had boat races
We touched all kinds of gross, slimy things!
And Kim caught us some dinner!
It was a small but very fun aquarium. While we were out by the tide pool there was a group of people having a rehearsal dinner. It never ceases to amaze me the interesting choices people make when planning their wedding!
After several hours at the aquarium we headed down to the beautiful beach at La Jolla
Where we walked along the beach and tide pools

We had a MARVELOUS time in San Diego. The trip was over much too quickly. We loved visiting with our little girl (who is all grown up) and her husband. I just hate that they are so far away, it is always hard to say good-by. But at least she lives in a fabulous place that is so nice to visit!
