Thanksgiving and Black Friday

It was my turn to work Labor and Delivery on Thanksgiving this year, so I wasn't able to attend a family dinner.  I missed all of the family togetherness, but the hospital fed us a very nice turkey dinner while we were at work.

Robin, Ashley and Kenzie started their Black Friday shopping on Thanksgiving afternoon.  I have a hard time starting my shopping on Thanksgiving and making people give up their holiday just for shoppers so after work I drove to our motel and took a nap.  The girls came back to the motel, dropped off a load of shopping bags, and picked me up to start my shopping at about midnight.

We found massage chairs that helped to rejuvenate us!

We filled two vehicles completely!  Crazy!
Before we checked out of the motel, we decided to go for a refreshing swim in the pool.  Suddenly we decided to show off our "skills" and perform a synchronized swimming routine.  True - none of us has ever done any synchronized swimming previously, but that didn't stop us from performing a marvelous show!





We had such a great time, and accomplished all of our Christmas shopping.

Oh my gosh did someone video the synchronized swimming? If so, I HAVE to see that! What a hoot!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
