Early Christmas with Tasha and Zane

Unfortunately Tasha and Zane are not able to join us for Christmas this year, so we decided to celebrate early when they arrived for a visit this week.  We had a short but fantastic visit.

The fun started when Tasha joined our visiting teaching group at Old Grist Mill.  It was so fun.  I just love our monthly visits with.  Having Tasha join was just perfect!

We played tons of games and laughed and laughed.  We had a wonderful dinner with Zane's family and then we came back and opened some presents (PJ's of course).




Several months ago we all got on the Harry Potter website and were sorted into our various "houses" by the "sorting hat".  Shandra and Zane were Slytherines, Kim and Kalel were Griffindorfs, and Tasha and I were Hufflepuffs.  Tasha thought that was so fun that she knit us all scarves that corresponded with our various houses.  There are beautiful!  I'm sure that she spent hundreds of hours making them for us!

One of the funnest (and most stupid) activities we did was to have make-up makeovers - however the person doing the makeup was blindfolded!  It was hilarious!  We watched several videos on youtube showing the art of blindfolded make-up application, and then we were ready to give it a go.

My goodness - that activity was great for lots of laughter!  

It felt so good having Tasha and Zane here!  I miss them so much and am so sad that we only get to see them a few times a year, but I'm so very proud of the good things they are doing with their lives in San Diego.  We will miss them on Christmas.

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
