Grinch Party with the Olsens


We had a great time at our annual Olsen family Christmas party!  Kim and I were in charge this year, and we chose to use "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" as the theme.  We decorated by hanging tons of lights all over the gym and placed ornaments painted with Grinch faces down the centers of the tables.

We played some really fun games:  for the kids we had Pin the Heart on the Grinch and we had a coloring and craft table where some fine artwork was created.





For the adults we Team Wrapped Presents, Placed Marshmallows in Boxes using only Chopsticks, Drew Profiles of our Neighbors, and played If and Then.

We asked everyone to come dressed as their favorite Whoville character, and we were pleased to see the creativity in all of the costumes!





Our funny bones were tickled until our sides hurt with laughter!  We had great food (Kim ordered roast beast from Kents), Dave brought Who Hash in the form of Chris' beans, and brought plenty of Who Pudding (chocolate of course!)  We also had "funeral" potatoes, salads, and lots of yummy desserts.  We were so glad that both Joan and Craig were able to join us since they were both spending time in rehab at Willow Glen. I feel so much love and gratitude to be a part of the wonderful Olsen family!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
