Ward Choir Good-bye

I have mentioned many times how much I enjoy working with our ward choir.  One reason that our choir is so great is because we have had the great opportunity to have Caryl Hepworth as our accompanist.  She is an extremely talented and educated lady.  Years ago when I was in high school Caryl was the accompanist for the high school choirs.  She understands music in a way that very few people do.  And she can play just about anything!

I attribute most of my ability of leading the choir to Caryl and her comments and suggestions. I have leaned on her and learned a great deal about helping a choir sing to their best abilities.

I have known for a long time that we were not going to be able to lean on Caryl indefinitely.  She has played the piano for many, many years and now has severe pain when she plays.  Today it is official, Caryl was released as the ward choir accompanist.

I totally understand why she had to quit, but I don't like it one bit!  My heart is breaking to know that she will no longer be able to share her amazing talent and that we will no longer be the recipients of her musical wisdom.  I will miss her!


February 1, Update

GREAT NEWS!  Caryl has discovered that the pain she was experiencing is not related to playing the piano!  Therefore she has requested to continue as our accompanist!  I couldn't be happier!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
