Covered Wagons, Visits, and Weddings
Whew! What a whirlwind, but yet an absolutely fantastic week! Kim and I took some time off work for some much anticipated and awesome family time. Tuesday Ashley and Tristan joined us along with Shandra, Kalel, and Jason and his daughter, RaeLynn for a fun, fast trip to Bear Lake. We stayed in a COVERED WAGON!
How fun is that? Conestoga Ranch is a new place that features "Glamping" which is short for glamorous camping. Visitors can choose whether they want to stay in heated tents or in covered wagons. Our wagon had four sets of bunk beds. The Ranch supplies the very comfy beds and linens and well as heaters. At night an employee will start your campfire and also extinguish it at 11:00 p.m. There is a fancy restaurant, showers, bathroom and laundry facilities. It was really fun!
Our family LOVES Juanito Bandito, and now we have created three more fans - Jason, Ashley, and even Tristan were impressed by the musical and comedic talents of the Bandito and cast!
Wednesday morning we decided to drive up to the North Shore and enjoy the lake. Bear Lake is so beautiful! But the water is so low this year that we actually drove down the boat ramp and along the beach to get to the water!
The kids had a wonderful time playing the in the water and sand while we old folks watched from chairs on the beach.
The day was beautiful, a bit overcast, not too hot and not to cold.
Jason saw some people having difficulty launching their jet skis so he just plunged into the water to help them - he didn't even remove his wallet so everything got all wet! But it was worth it, they were very grateful for his help.
That night Kim and I watched Kalel and Raelynn so that Shandra and Jason could pick up Tasha from the airport! YEAH! It was so great to have her visit!
Her plane didn't land until about midnight so we only got a very quick visit before heading to bed. Kalel was so excited that he woke her up at 6:00 in the morning! After visiting for a little while, they both crashed for a little more much needed sleep.
After naps we started into the serious business of having fun. We all went to watch Kalel's gymnastics and also his and Rae's swimming lessons.

picking up Zane from the airport (he flew in from working in Portland), and then GAMES, GAMES, AND EVEN MORE GAMES!
Kristiann, Cyn, Mont, and Marilyn joined us for an hoot'n hollerin' game of Redneck Life.
Oh my heck! It was so dern funny. As the game progressed we found that all of us had a hankerin' for talkin' redneck! It was unavoidable and we were all doing it. The winner of the game is the one who has the most teeth left.
We also had fun playing darts, doing hair, and even a bit of karaoke.
Saturday morning we got up very early and met Kaylie Connolly at Mantua Reservoir to have family pictures taken. I was pleasantly surprised that everybody behaved themselves, except Kim of course. His antics kept Kaylie thoroughly entertained. We should get the pictures back in about two weeks but she did post this one teaser.
That evening we were honored to attend the wedding of my niece, Kenzie, to her honey, JD. She is so beautiful, both inside and out. Her in-laws provided an incredibly gorgeous back yard for the ceremony and reception. Her father-in-law even became a minister so that he could perform the ceremony.

It was so funny to see a "taxi driver" become "an alien baby tied to the roof of a car", a "water buffalo" become "line cheese", a "margarita" become a "birthday cake" and a picture frame became a "dancing M and M in a suitcase"! It was absolutely hilarious!
Sunday morning brought sad goodbyes as Tasha and Zane left for the airport - Tasha to go to San Diego and Zane to Portland. He is working on a project there that requires him to spend two weeks a month in Portland. This day also brought an interview with the bishopric and a new calling for me. It is a very interesting yet exciting calling. I am to be a Family History Instructor, however in our ward this calling is newly created and has no rules or manuals. The bishopric would like me to help the members of our ward learn the basics of doing family history work so that they can receive the blessings of performing temple ordinances. Each member of the class will bring a tablet or laptop to class and actually do their own work in the class. Since I am fairly new to the whole family history thing I'm pretty sure that I will be learning right along with them. It will certainly be an adventure!
