BYU Women's Conference

Image
I believe that BYU Women's Conference is just about the best two+ days of the year! Where else can you spend time with a bunch of women laughing, eating great food (not to mention yummy treats like BYU Brownies, fudge, and chocolate covered cinamon bears), bonding together, and best of all sharing insights and learning how to better live the gospel. We had a tremendous time! This year I was able to share my room with two of my favorite people, Cyn and Jalyn. Jalyn's sister-in-law, Debbie also joined us. I didn't know her well before the conference, but soon grew to love her too! We were in the same motel (The Travel Lodge) as Marilyn, her mother, Wanda, her sister, Lynn, and nieces, Hope and Grace. All of us got together the first night to have dinner at the Brick Oven - a tradition that Marilyn's family has had for many years! Since it was very close to Marilyn's birthday we just had to have the waiters sing for her and bring her a special treat. YUM! Following d i...

Bubba Sings Bingo & the ABC Song

Okay, I will admit it. I am a shamelessly prideful grandma! I just had to share this video of my Bubba's talents.

Just The Girls

Me and the girls had a SLENDIFEROUS weekend! It all started out with tickets to the most fabulous play, Wicked! We decided that since we were going to spoil ourselves by going to the play, we would add to the experience by staying the weekend in the city! Of course, no weekend would be complete without doing some serious SHOPPING! After checking into the hotel, we met up with Marilyn, Maddie, Karen, and Maddy for dinner. We walked around for awhile looking for a good place to eat. We finally found a fun little Italian place that served real Italian pizza . It was really good and not something that we have the opportunity to eat very often. After dinner it was time for the show!!!! Wicked was phenomenal! We all LOVED it! I am in awe at the talent that went into this production! The writing was incredible, the music fantastic, and both of the witches were absolutely magnificent! It is definitely something I will make an effort to see again. Shandra and Tasha convinced me that we needed...

Easter Weekend Fun

Image
Whew! What a crazy week! It was filled with ups and downs, tons of work and tons of fun! In between all of the craziness, we started turning a bedroom into an office. But the best part of the week by far was the PARTIES!!!! Friday night Mont & Marilyn joined Kim, Bubba and I for a great dinner at Moore's Cowpoke BBQ. We had a yummy feast of baby back ribs, halibut, pulled pork and all of the fixin's. After we stuffed ourselves silly, we went to Roxane's house for a crazy night of games. Kevin and Julie met us there along with their adorable kids. We played a few hands of cards, then reverted to kids again and played "Sneaks" (a safer version of spoons). If that wasn't crazy enough, we then turned to "Rock Band". I'm pretty sure that there is nothing in the world more silly than watching mature? adults playing drums, guitar, and singing to old '80's songs. It was a riot! Saturday we had the annual Olsen Family Easter Party complete w...

Bubba's Birthday

Image
Two years ago our little Bubba made a surprise enterance into this world five weeks before we were expecting him. He was so teeny! Only 4 lbs 4 oz. It was amazing to me that something so small could be so perfect. What a difference two years makes! He still is perfect (to grandma and grandpa at least) but he sure isn't teeny any more! Bubba is now an official 2 year old ! Complete with adorable personality, multiple talents, and his very own attitude! Of course he is the smartest kid ever! (Grandma's bragging rights) He knows all of the basic colors, he knows all of the animals and sounds, and he sings about 15 songs. It is amazing the difference in his attitude on presents between Christmas and now. At Christmas, he would slowly tear off one little, tiny piece of wrapping paper and then walk it over to the garbage. He seemed to care more about the paper than the gifts. Somehow during the last few months he learned that presents are FUN! And he became really excited to open...

Fun Day With Bubba

Image
Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Food 4 Thought Friday

Feel free to play along for some yummy fun! ~ This week's questions (courtesy of my friend, Jodi ) ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Breakfast If your job made you move, but you could choose which country you would be living in, which country would you choose and why? Definitely somewhere tropical - The Cayman Islands would be nice! Although I would have to have food flown in because I hate seafood. Lunch Do you have any phobias? Heights and driving in bad weather. Dinner What is something you can't help but spend money on? Ummm, nothing specific comes to mind. I just spend too much money on everything I guess. Midnight Snack What profession/job did your parent(s) have while you were growing up? My dad was a machinist and my mom stayed home until we were all grown, and then she got a job at the jewelry counter at K-Mart. She loved that job, and we got lots of great presents! For awhile mom had all of the daily newspapers delivered to our house where the boys would pick them up fo...
