Gobbins, Ghouls, and Such

Saturday afternoon was the annual Olsen Family Halloween party. (A special thanks goes out to Mickel for all the hard work she puts into this party!)
We decorated pumpkins, bobbed for apples, and ate great food! There was a pumpkin hunt for the little kids and games for the bigger ones. We also had prizes for the best costume and best pumpkins! This year Kim & I dressed up like (virtuous) Sandy and Danny from Grease. Doesn't Kim look fantastic in the "greaser" wig?

We made Tasha a China Doll costume, complete with "made in China" label on the back. Quite a few people remarked that they didn't even recognize her! Isn't she adorable?


Shandra spent so much time helping the rest of us look good that she didn't have time for much of a costume, so she just donned a wig and transformed into a blonde movie star.



Of course the hit of the evening was our adorable little "Alfalfa". With his pointed cowlick and cute little freckles he looked just like the character.


Kim & Dave worked hard to win the pumpkin carving contest!
My sister, Ashley, just happened to be driving by and saw the party. She just happened to have Tristan in his costume, so she brought Tristan to join in the fun!
A great time was had by all! This is a party we really look forward to each year.

Oh he is soooo cute! I mean Kim! Alfalfa isn't bad either! lol
Seriously you two look SO GOOD! And Tasha....that is a great look for her!

I know I saw Alfalfa that night, but the clothes really MAKE it! And you too look so cute! I was waiting for the picture of the finished pumpkins! Tasha looks so cute, tell her hi for me!

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
