Friends and Gingerbread Houses

Monday night we had a great time when Cyn's family and Marilyn's family joined us for an evening of fun times. We decided to have breakfast for supper and made yummy waffles and eggs. After dinner we headed to our house for, what else, GAMES! We just love playing games! This night the ladies chose to play Simply Catan while the kids ran around wildly and the guys watched Monday Night Football.


Cyn is such a Kook! She promised that she would help Tasha make a gingerbread house during the holidays this year, and they never seemed to have time when Tasha was at their house (she stays there between classes at school). So, Cyn brought all of the makings, icing, and decorations here and while we were playing, Tasha decorated her very first gingerbread house.


I think she did a fantastic job!


We soon had all of the kids join us and want to play so we broke out "Walk the Dogs".
It was fun to see McKay open the box and say, "what, we play with toy dogs?????" I'm sure that he thought we were making him play a toddler's game. And, he acted like Steve was crazy when he said that "Walk the Dogs' was his favorite game! He probably thought that a grown man would NEVER play with toy dogs! However, once we got him started, he soon realized that it was a game that required strategy and skill, and I think I even caught him smiling once or twice!

A great time was had by all!

I want to play so bad I got walk the dogs for my nephews and haven't played it yet. Maybe on new years eve we will break it out.

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
