A Day at the ZOO!

Is there anything greater than going to the zoo with a toddler? Yesterday Shandra, Kalel, and I had a great adventure at Hogle Zoo. Bubba loves animals, and he had a terrific time watching them. He liked watching the elephants getting a drink of water. The black bears were having a fine time wrestling with each other and Bubba wa totally enthralled! He was a little nervous, and wanted to be held most of the day, especially when we were right next to the giraffes! There was a little baby giraffe that was so very adorable! There was also a little snow leopard cub climbing and jumping all over his mother. Bubba thought that was very funny. He was very impressed with the big tiger - and he demonstrated his growling ability for the tiger! He really enjoyed the train ride, even though he didn't quite understand what was going on. His very favorite part of the day was in the gift shop where we got him a little bag of play animals. He played with the tiger and snow leopard mama's and babies all day yesterday and today as well! He even asked me to get them a bowl so they could have a pretend drink of water and some pretend food! What a great day!

Taking the kids to the zoo was my favorite. They would LOVE it when I talked for the animals.

Memories:  These vintage pictures surfaced this month.  I just love looking at old pictures remembering how things were - especially when the pictures are of loved ones who are no longer with us.  I love seeing Grandpa and Grandma surrounded by family.  They loved being with family!  This made me smile. Fun Day With Bubba

Today Bubba and I had a great day! First we joined Ash and Tristan for a visit to the park. Bubba and Tristan ran and rolled and climbed and had all kinds of fun! Later, Kim and I had to run to Logan, so we decided that a quick trip to Willow Park was in order. Bubba was so excited to see all of the animals there. We saw turtles, geese, swans, cranes, peacocks, and deer. We watched an owl eating his dinner. We saw a couple of young antelope fighting - I think they were really just playing! We even saw a couple of wallabies! Of course, Bubba's favorite part was feeding the ducks! He got a little nervous if one got too close, but as long as they kept their distance, he had a blast throwing food to them. I'm sure that he just about wore himself out with all of the walking and running and playing. I know that I did!

Mom is Coming Home

We just got word today that mom can come home from Rehab tomorrow morning – a week earlier than we had expected. Needless to say, mom is thrilled at the prospects of being home again, and dad is quite excited also. I have to admit, I have mixed feelings. Honestly, it has been very nice having mom in a place where I knew that they were taking very good care of her. The food there is fantastic, the workers are extremely pleasant and friendly, and her care was wonderful. She has gained an incredible amount of muscle strength through her two-a-day physical therapy sessions, and they are fanatical about making sure that her food and fluids are exactly what she needs. Consequently mom is actually in better overall health now than she has been in the last two years. It has been nice for me to have them watching over her continuously to make sure that she does what she is supposed to and also to make sure that she doesn’t cheat on her diet or fluid restrictions.
