Covered Wagons, Visits, and Weddings

Whew!  What a whirlwind, but yet an absolutely fantastic week!  Kim and I took some time off work for some much anticipated and awesome family time.  Tuesday Ashley and Tristan joined us along with Shandra, Kalel, and Jason and his daughter, RaeLynn for a fun, fast trip to Bear Lake.  We stayed in a COVERED WAGON! How fun is that?   Conestoga Ranch  is a new place that features "Glamping"  which is short for glamorous camping.  Visitors can choose whether they want to stay in heated tents or in covered wagons.  Our wagon had four sets of bunk beds.  The Ranch supplies the very comfy beds and linens and well as heaters.  At night an employee will start your campfire and also extinguish it at 11:00 p.m.  There is a fancy restaurant, showers, bathroom and laundry facilities.  It was really fun!  Of course, no trip to Bear Lake is complete without watching Juanito Bandito at the Pickleville Playh...

Long Hair Experiment

I have never had long hair.  Even when I was young, it seemed as though my hair would stop growing as soon as it got to my shoulders.  One day Shandra loaned me her long wig so I could experience long hair for myself.    I have to admit, it was kind of fun to have long hair, but it really seemed to get in the way!  It kept falling in my food, it got caught in my shirt, and I almost got toothpaste in it when I brushed my teeth!  When Kim put his arm around me, he caught the hair, stopping me from moving my head!  So, we traded for hair extension that weren't quite as long.  I think I like them.

Looking Back at July

I want to know how time moves so quickly!  It seems like summer just barely started and now the stores are all advertising "back to school" sales!  I LOVE summer, and feel like I have been working so many crazy shifts that I have missed most of it.  Only the fact that I am working as a nursing educator makes the sacrifice worthwhile (almost!).   I have had the opportunity to spend long summer days, literally getting up at insane hours, supervising students at Avalon Health Care, McKay Dee Hospital, and LDS Hospital as they perform their clinical hours.  It has been amazing to see these nursing students learn and grow as they work  through nursing school towards the goal of becoming Registered Nurses.  Nursing school is grueling, requiring long hours of class time, clinical experiences, and an endless mountain of homework and tests.  I'm very proud of each and every one of them!  And I'm going to miss spending time with them each week. ...
