San Diego - Part 3 - San Diego Zoo
Lions and tigers and bears . . oh my! And elephants and giraffes and snakes and tortoises and pandas and hippos and the list goes on and on!
We rode the bus around the zoo when we first arrived so that we could get a feel for the lay-out. I think that it was a good idea because San Diego Zoo is HUGE!
Kalel has been studying maps in school so he and Tristan were in charge of where to go.
We saw funny seals poking their heads out of the ice
We saw some statues that were "HOT"!
We saw a rhino's lower lip act just like fingers to pick up food (it was a little creepy!)

Kalel touched a real (fake) rattlesnake
We rode a tram across the zoo (but I won't admit that I was paralyzed with fear the entire time)
We learned that Ash is master story teller. She started a story just as the tram took off and related the story the entire ride without even catching a breath! She said she does that to distract those who are afraid! (I may or may not have appreciated her talent)
Tasha and Zane rode a bucking ferocious bucking turtle
We came across a couple of savage warriors
We got our pictures taken with lots of wild animals!
We learned that giraffes chew their cud like a cow. We watched one giraffe chew and swallow, then a lump rolled down its throat, and then ... it rolled all the way back up and the giraffe started chewing again!
This is a totally photo-shopped picture, thank you. |
Tasha sprouted wings and morphed into a butterfly.
And did a beautiful umbrella dance
We watched Ice Age in 4D
And we got to watch an elephant get a pedicure!
We discovered that Ashley has a hidden talent of speaking flamingo!
And Kalel is a snake charmer!
We had a fabulous day at the Zoo!
