Ward Christmas Party

Kim and I were asked to be in charge of the ward Christmas Party this year.  We were prompted and  fortunate to choose the very best committee members ever!  I ended up being extremely busy with both Eagle Gate and the Brigham Hospital so I wasn't able to be a big help but the committee far exceeded my expectations, picked up my slack, and pulled off the party to PERFECTION!

We decided to do a "Grinch" theme, with a focus on how the Grinch was able to turn his heart to the real reason for Christmas - the WHO of Christmas - which is Jesus Christ.

Nancy and Doc Moyle offered to be in charge of the dinner, and WOW!  Not only did they create a fabulous Who Feast complete with dessert bar, but they created an almost surreal Who village with decorations.

Marilyn was kind enough to step in and spend the day decorating.  She is marvelous!  We used some of Brook Burt's and Jodi Wilding's decorations.

The Moyles also were able to locate and invite Santa to our party.  We had him sit in the primary room and Tom Miggin took pictures.

No, this isn't Santa - Kim is just warming up his chair!
RaeLynn climbed right up on his lap without any prompting!
Kalel had to be coerced to sit on Santa's lap this year.

Even the bishopric knows who to talk to about gifts!

The missionaries!

Johnny Hepworth prepared games for the children.  Before dinner the kids were able to play "Pin the Heart on Grinch" and "Max's Ring Toss" trying to toss hoops over antlers.

Mike and Julie Collins were in charge of entertainment.  Mike wrote a fabulous play in which a family talks about the Grinch and the lessons he learned.  The audience was surprised to see the actual Grinch himself appear to be part of the show!

The Grinch (aka Mont) makes a surprise appearance!
The play concluded with primary children performing songs recreating the Nativity.  It was a fabulous play!

We took our photo backdrop and Jodi's Grinch and set up a camera on a tripod for photos.  Many ward members took the opportunity for a photo op.

The party appeared to be a huge success (thanks to our wonderful committee!).  The only down side to the whole thing is that Kim and Mike dropped a piano on my finger and broke it!

While we were moving the piano the wheel fell off.  I was elected to put it back on while Kim and Mike lifted the piano.  Unfortunately the wheel slipped back out when they lowered it and my finger got smashed between the piano and the wheel.  Luckily it was just a finger.
