Southern California 2013 Part 1

Our much anticipated trip is finally here!  Sunday (Mother’s Day) we left our house at noon and rushed to Ogden, picked up Shandra at work, and then zoomed to the airport to catch our flight.  Kalel was SO excited to fly on his very first airplane!  However when we hit a little turbulence, he decided he didn't like the way his “tummy tickled”.
All packed and ready to go!
On the plane
We landed in Ontario, rented a minivan, and then hopped on the freeway on our way to San Diego to see Tasha & Zane.  It was so good to see them!  The moving van hadn't arrived yet, so they were living in a very empty – although cute – apartment.

Luckily we had already decided to get a hotel room for the night, so we took the Hunzekers along with us to check in the hotel.

On the way we stopped at Torrey Pines Beach.  Our plan was to watch the sunset on the beach, however the fog was so thick over the water that we could barely even see the sun, let alone watch it set.   Kalel had a fantastic time playing in the waves with Zane.

The next morning we got up for a very chilly dip in the hotel pool – which quickly turned into a soak in the hot tub!

After we cleaned up we checked out and drove back to Tasha and Zane’s to wait for the movers to arrive.  While we were waiting we gave Tasha her birthday presents.
Kalel picked out this special Jaguar necklace just for his Tia!

Tasha is crying (again!)  She was just so happy to
have us there - and  to get PRESENTS!

And Tasha helped Kalel with his homework and reading.

Finally the empty apartment was full of boxes – which we just left – and we began our vacation in earnest, staying in our condo just a short distance from Disneyland!

Our condo was FABULOUS! Beautiful in every way, large swimming pool, multiple hot tubs, and the staff were all very friendly, and only 1 1/2 miles from Disneyland.
