Southern California 2013 Part 5
Friday we decided to visit all of the attractions that we
had missed so far as well as those we wanted to repeat (we actually made a list
and voted on all of the things we wanted to see that day). We visited Toon Town and rode Roger Rabbit’s
Car Toon Spin and got to meet Mickey Mouse in his house.
After exploring Toon Town we found Repunzel’s Tower and after waiting in line for a while we got her autograph.
Tasha and Shandra so excited to see Rupunzel that they are dancing! |
Kim actually told Rapunzel that he preferred short hair. She gave him a look that let him know that she did NOT approve of his opinion! |
We found Merida from the movie Brave and her 3 brothers who had been turned into bear cubs. Since Kalel's new half-brother was born a couple of days before, Kalel and Shandra asked Merida is she thought that it would be better to turn Kalel's brother into bear cubs too. She replied, "If he is a lot of trouble now, it will be much worse if he is a bear cub. It is probably better to let him stay a boy!" It was very cute!
We rode Splash Mountain again, but this time we were prepared with rain ponchos!
For a late lunch we decided to splurge on the
Big Thunder Mountain Bar-B-Q. What a
great choice! It was family style, all
of the ribs, chicken, beans, coleslaw, and corn bread you could eat. For dessert we got a huge chocolate chip
cookie topped with ice cream and hot fudge.
It was fantastic!
Back to the park that night we spent some time in Hollywood Land in California Adventure. It was a lot more crowded on the weekend, especially at night where there were tons of teenagers celebrating graduation.
We rode Monster’s Inc. again and then went back to talk to
Crush again.
I was so glad that I
video recorded it when Crush picked Kalel to answer some questions! Of course, I was the proudest grandma in the
place!
Crush (speaking
to the assistant with the microphone): Check
out the dude with the short seaweed green shell with dark sea moss on the
noggin, dude!
Crush (to
Kalel): Hey there, dude, what’s your
name?
Kalel: Kalel
Crush: That’s a pretty cool name, dude! I’m going to give you a turtle name and call
you Kowabunga Kalel – CHA! Kowabunga
Kalel, now that you have a turtle name, do you know how to talk like a turtle?
Kalel: I wish I could, but . . .
Crush: Dude!
I must be a genie because your wish is about to be granted! First, say ”totally”
Kalel: Totally
Crush: Awesome!
Now say “sweet”
Kalel: Sweet
Crush: Now put both those words together and say “totally
sweet”
Kalel: Totally Sweet!
Crush: Dude! You did it!
Humans, put your fins together for Kowabunga Kalel, Turtle Talker! Dude!
See you are awesome at talking turtle, you’re like . . .bilingual! Cha!
Kowabung Kalel, like, where do you live?
Kalel: Brigham City, Utah
Crush: Dude! Brigham City, Utah, that’s awesome! (long pause) I have no idea where that
is! Like, dude! Who brought you here on this fine day from
Utah? Like, who did you come here with?
Kalel (sitting up in front with Tasha): My aunt
Crush: Ah, cruising
with the auntie bear! That’s
awesome! Wait – if it is okay if I talk
to her, say “Cha”
Kalel: Cha
Crush:
Excellent! Wait, Auntie, where
are you at? Totally raise a fin
Crush: Oh – short leash! Awesome!
What’s your name?
Tasha: Tasha
Crush: Well, very
nice to meet ya, Tubular Tasha! And,
Dudette, like how many little ones are you in charge of today?
Tasha: Um, one and
then I’m married to another one.
Crush: Well
played! So does this actual little one
ask you tons of questions?
Tasha: Tons of
questions!
Crush: Oh, Cha! And
you like, have all the answers, right?
Tasha: All of them
Crush: Dude! I totally know what you mean . . . I make
them up too!
Crush then went on to ask questions of other members of the
audience. It was GREAT!
Another fun thing we did in Hollywood land was to take a
personality test to see which Disney character we were most like.
Kalel = Mickey
Shandra = Tinker Bell
Tasha = Belle
Zane= Mufasa
Audrey = Cinderella
Kim = Cap’n Hook
Then we found this great place where “Ursula” from Little
Mermaid captured our voices and put them into Disney movies. In reality, we spoke or sang the words and
then they played them back for us with the video. It was AWESOME! We laughed and laughed and laughed!
We decided that we didn't want to stand and wait to watch “World
of Color” even though we had heard that it was an incredible show, so we did
the next best thing – we went back to the condo, turned out all of the lights,
and watched it on youtube!
We had such a fun, fun day!
